The ultimate guide for deer hunting : Tips, Tricks and Gears

What makes a good deer hunting rifle? It must be reliable, accurate, and comfortable. There are many rifles that fit this bill, but which one is for you. In this article we will discuss the best deer hunting rifle, the best deer hunting cartridge, and on top of that we will talk about the best scope to pair with it.

Find The Best Rifle

The best rifle that I would recommend for hunting deer is the Savage Model 110. This rifle is lightweight, super accurate, and very reliable. The Savage 110 starts out great by having the Savage Accutrigger in it. This trigger allows you to get the exact trigger weight that you want and can be adjusted by anyone and does not require a gun smith. On top of that, the gun either comes with a synthetic stock, or a wood finish stock. Either one will be very comfortable, and give you the look that you want. The action on these rifles is silky smooth and have been used in many custom builds for long range guns. The reliability and ease of use of the action alone make this rifle an amazing choice. The next great thing about this gun is that it is very affordable. It’s not the cheapest gun, but it definitely is not overpriced. You will not find a better gun out there for the money. How easy this rifle is to customize is a very big bonus as well. You can find many different stocks to put on it in the future if that is something you like. The trigger is customizable out of the box, and the gun will cover any range of shooting that you could want to attempt.

Best Caliber For Deer Hunting:

Next we will discuss what caliber is best for deer hunting. There are so many calibers out there that can be used to hunt deer, anywhere from a .223 Remington clear up to 300 win mag. What I prefer for an all-around great deer cartridge is something that will kill the game quickly and cleanly and will leave a good enough blood trail to follow but won’t kick so hard that you don’t want to shoot it. I prefer to use the 6.5 PRC for hunting deer across the country. This is a newer cartridge that was created by Hornady manufacturing. It is an amazing round for long distance shots but is very effective at close shots as well. I don’t think you will be able to find a round that can do it all quite like the 6.5 PRC will. What is amazing about this round is that the recoil is very light. So even women and children can shoot this gun over and over again, and never have to worry about the kick bothering them. Although the cartridge is pretty new, there are already some very good rounds out there for it, or you could go the next step and make a handload that would up the accuracy just a little more! So, you have the gun picked out but what optic are you going to pair it with to bring out the true potential of the gun. There are many options out there, and if you asked 100 different people you may get 100 different answers. The scope I pick to outfit a deer hunting gun is something with a big objective to let in a lot of light because you may be hunting right at the end of shooting light, or right at first light in the morning. Also, something that can go low in power for close shots but as enough power to offer to shoot the long-distance shots.

Best Scope for Deer Hunting

The scope I choose to go with that has all these options is the Vortex Diamondback 3.5-10×50. This scope is amazing in every aspect. It has the low-end range of 3.5 to handle the super close shots but goes clear up to 10 power to handle any of those longer shots. The next great thing about this scope is that it is a 50 objective, so it will give you plenty of light for them low light opportunities. Where this scope really excels is in the clarity of the scope itself. Sometimes scopes can be a little blurry or not as crisp as you would like, but these vortex scopes have extremely clear glass to look through. Another benefit of these scopes is that they are rock solid.Whether you are shooting a light rifle caliber or a 300 win mag, this scope will hold its zero and keep on ticking. For the price of this scope you would be very hard up to find something better than it. Another great benefit of these scopes is the warranty that Vortex offers. They have an unconditional lifetime warranty on there products. It doesn’t matter if you personally slam it on the ground and run it over with a truck, Vortex will either fix it or send you a brand new one for free!

Why I recommend this:

I have many reasons for recommending this gun and scope combo. The main ones are that these are not too expensive so most any hunter can afford them, they are supremely accurate, and are very easy to use. It doesn’t matter if it’s a youth hunter, woman, or a grown man, everyone will enjoy shooting this combo. A 6.5 prc savage model 110 paired with a vortex diamondback 3.5-10×50 scope will make shooting a deer a very fun and pleasurable experience. So, in conclusion, if you need a new deer hunting rifle, and don’t want to break the bank but you want to be able to take the close- and long-range shots. Go with this combo. Once you have one of these in your hands, all you will have to do is pair it up with the right bullets and you will be impressing all of your hunting buddies. Don’t mess around with worrying about what gun you want to shoot, go with this combo and be happy and effective in the field.
